Meet The Mom: Carson Meyer

We could not be more honored for Carson Meyer to join us for this month's Meet the Mom interview. Carson is a birth doula, childbirth educator, nutrition consultant, author, and mother. She is dedicated to supporting families through pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum journey. With experience guiding hundreds of parents in both home and hospital settings, she offers compassionate care, evidence-based education, and holistic resources. Our very own Marketing Specialist attended her virtual Growing Together circle during her first pregnancy, and cannot recommend it more. Carson's debut book, Growing Together: Doula Wisdom & Holistic Practices for Pregnancy, Birth, & Early Motherhood, is out now, and it has become a recommended must-read for all our expecting friends. Thank you for being here, Carson!

Pregnancy & Birth

As a birth doula and educator, how do you help women feel more empowered and informed during labor?

I believe knowledge is power and when women (and men) understand the physiology of labor and birth and how brilliantly the process is deigned there is a reverence and trust in the process that can help alleviate fears and demystify the process. My hope is that through educating parents on the mechanism of birth their options they can approach birth and postpartum feeling a sense of empowerment and autonomy.

How can someone begin preparing emotionally (not just physically) for birth?

I believe that there are so many important lessons and opportunities for growth that inherently present themselves along the way. In my book Growing Together I offer weekly actives to invite the mother to tune into these teachings that are coming from her baby in preparation for motherhood. I think journaling and letter writing to be one of the most simple and effective way to be present with the emotional side of the transformation.

Postpartum & Recovery

The postpartum window is often overlooked - what do you believe makes for a nourishing postpartum experience?

In my book I talk about the four pillars of postpartum harmony. These pillars are rest, support, nourishment and touch. All four of these pillars are equally valuable in their own way but I really believe that when a mother is well nourished through nutritious foods it brings her to a baseline where healing and presence can happen with more ease.

Holistic Wellness

You wear many hats - doula, educator, founder, author, advocate. How do those roles intersect and inform each other?

My skincare line C & The Moon is very much inspired by my work as a doula and my passion for  health. Although the products are crafted for all seasons of life, the brand was founded on the belief that the way we care for ourself is intrinsically linked to the way we care for the world around us. Babies are born with over 200 man made chemicals in their cord blood. Many of these chemicals are found in personal care products women use daily for years and years. Being mindful of what we are putting in and on our bodies shouldn't just be something we care about in the nine months of pregnancy.

What advice would you give to someone looking to become a birth worker or support others in this space?

Find a mentor and be diligent about creating healthy boundaries and healthy rituals so that you don't burn out.

Favorite nourishing meal or snack you make for yourself or family?

I have to admit my husband is the cook of the family. He is the one that does all the nourishing and I am so grateful. For snack making I am really into Seatopia smoked salmon with avocado and buffalo mozzarella and lemon as the easiest healthiest snack ever!

What’s one book or resource you recommend to every expecting or new mother?

My book Growing Together ( : I also think Evidence Based Birth is a great website to know about!
