Welcoming a new baby is beautiful, exhausting, emotional, and incredibly demanding on the body. During the postpartum season, nourishment matters more than ever! But it also needs to be simple, comforting, and easy to receive.
That’s why we created our Postpartum Doorstep Delights series: easy, nourishing recipes you can make and quietly drop on a new mama’s doorstep. No hosting, no expectations for the new mama. Just a simple text: “There’s a little something for you on your porch 🤍”. Sometimes the most meaningful support is the kind that asks nothing in return.
You can find the first three posts in the series below:
If you’ve been following along, you know we love foods that feel both functional and cozy. And today’s recipe is one of our all-time favorite cookie recipes from Eat to Feed.

Cowgirl Lactation Cookies
Straight from the Eat to Feed cookbook, these cookies are hearty, nourishing, and just indulgent enough to feel like a treat (because let’s be honest: postpartum definitely calls for chocolate).
They’re packed with ingredients that support recovery and milk production:
- Sprouted oats for fiber and lactation support
- Oat Mama's Brewer’s yeast for B vitamins and lactation support
- Coconut and pecans for healthy fats and sustained energy
- Dark chocolate for a little magnesium boost
Who else thinks a warm cookie and a cup of tea can go a long way in those early days?
Why We Love Gifting These
This is one of our favorite doorstep drops because you can gift it two ways:
- A freshly baked batch ready to enjoy immediately
- A pre-scooped frozen batch so mama can bake a few whenever she needs a pick-me-up
There’s something extra special about knowing warm cookies are just minutes away with no effort required. It was one of our favorite things to have ready and waiting in our freezer when we were in the early (and RAVENOUS) postpartum days.
Cowgirl Lactation Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 3/4 cup organic oat flour
- 1/4 cup Oat Mama Brewer’s Yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon Himalayan pink salt or sea salt
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 1/4 sticks)
- 1 1/4 cups dark brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups organic old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup pecans, roughly chopped
- 1 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
- 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, mix together the almond flour, oat flour, brewer’s yeast, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter and brown sugar together until smooth, about 3 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla, and beat until fully incorporated.
With the mixer on low, slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Then add the oats, pecans, coconut, and chocolate chips. Mix until just combined and be careful not to overmix.
Scoop the dough into rounded tablespoons (about 2 tablespoons each) and roll into balls. Place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Gently flatten each one slightly.
Bake for 12–14 minutes, until the edges are deeply golden. Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3 days to up to a week.
A Beautiful Doorstep Gift for a New Mom
To gift these, package a handful of baked cookies in a simple box or bag, and pair them with a jar or container of pre-scooped frozen dough.
Add a small note with baking instructions:
“Bake from frozen at 350°F for 12–14 minutes.”
Bonus points: include a bag of tea (we recommend out postpartum healing tea) and her favorite flowers.
Sometimes nourishment looks like superfoods and tonics… and sometimes it looks like a gooey chocolate chip cookie eaten with one hand while holding a baby in the other.
Both count. 🤍
